Cougars’ season comes to close at NCAA championships

The Cougars placed sixth, narrowly failing to advance to the next round of the NCAA championships, after posting a 300 at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Saturday to cap off their 2012-13 season.

The final three holes really seemed to plague the No. 5 seed Cougars, as they posted a combined score of 8-over-par during that stretch.

This was the Cougars’ second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Regionals. Last season, they finished ninth at the NCAA Athens Regional.

Tying for 12th overall, junior Curtis Reed. Reed posted an overall score of 5-over-par, at The University Club. Sophomore Kyle Pilgrim posted the team’s lowest round of the day with a 74 and tied for 14th at 222. It was Pilgrim’s first NCAA Regional appearance.

Sophomore Roman Robledo, the reigning Conference USA individual champion tied for 45th at 231.
