Attorney Jarvis Hollingsworth has been appointed as the chairman of the Board of Regents, effective Sept. 1.
“We’re going to continue to pursue the No. 1 goal of the University: student success,” Hollingsworth said in an official press release with Texas Lawyer.
Hollingsworth has served as a member of the UH System Board since 2009 and graduated from the Law Center. He was named a Texas Super Lawyer in Texas Monthly magazine and has been a member of the board of directors of the State Bar of Texas.
He is currently a partner with the firm Bracewell & Guiliani.
According to the press release, the school will work on increasing its graduation rates and move on with campus construction worth $1 billion. This will allow UH to be ranked as the second most residential institution of higher learning in Texas.
He will serve until Aug. 31, 2015.
