Sophomore sprinter Leshon Collins and senior pole vaulter Karley King have been named Athletes of the Week by the American Athletic Conference for their strong performances at the UH Indoor Opener last weekend.
Collins has been named the American Male Track Athlete of the Week after he took the top spot during the men’s 60-meter dash Saturday evening with a record-breaking time of 6.60 seconds. His time crushed the meet record, the UH record and his personal record of 6.67 set last year. Collins started the meet strongly with a personal best time of 6.65 in the prelims.
King was named the American Female Field Athlete of the Week after she broke the pole vault meet record with a 4.00-meter vault to win the first indoor home meet of the season.
