Freshman Cameron Burrell has made his way into the University track and field record books after posting a 6.55 in the 60-meter dash Saturday afternoon during the Cherry & Silver Collegiate Invitational.
Burrell’s time, one of the fastest in the nation, broke the school record and set a personal best for the freshman.
Sophomores LeShon Collins and Issac Williams finished in the top five in their respective events. Collins finished with a time of 6.65 in the 60-meter, tying his second fastest time this season. In the 60-meter hurdles, Williams finished with a time of 7.96.
Junior John Horton landed a season best in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 15.28 meters.
On the women’s side, junior Dominique Brisco led the team with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump. She recorded a personal best of 12.73 meters. She also tied her personal best in the 60-meter hurdles for the third time this season with a time of 8.60 in the prelims, missing qualification by just 0.04 seconds.
The women’s 4×400-meter relay – Terracia Moody, Mayorca Young, Ngozi Onwumere and Brittany Wallace – ran a season-best time of 3:39.41 to win the meet. Their time is the 13th best in the nation.
Hurdler Sade Mariah Greenidge recorded a season-best time of 8.46 to take sixth place in the women’s 60-meter hurdles. Senior Karley King recorded her third-best vault of the season with a mark of 4.02 meters in the women’s pole vault.
