Grammy-nominated artist headlines at annual jazz festival

Alto saxophone player Brad Leali is bringing his talent to the 16th Annual Jazz Festival on Friday and Saturday at the Moores School of Music.

Leali was a member of the Count Basie Orchestra and won a Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Performance in 1998. He has been noted as one of the most important voices of the alto saxophone.

On Friday, the schedule is as follows:

  • 9 a.m. to noon – Middle and high school bands perform
  • noon to 1 p.m. – Clinic and performance by guest artist (free)
  • 1 to 5:30 p.m. – Middle and high school bands perform
  • 7:30 p.m. – Featured performance

On Saturday, the schedule is as follows:

  • 9 a.m. to noon – Middle and high school bands perform
  • noon to 1 p.m. – Clinic and performance by guest artist (free)
  • 1 to 5:30 p.m. – Middle and high school bands perform
  • 7:30 p.m. – Performance by the Moores School of Music Jazz Orchestra featuring Brad Leali

Tickets for individual performances at the MSM Jazz Festival can be found online at uhjazz.edu/events/jazzfestival.
