Freshman Taylor Olanski finished in 14th place during the platform competition at the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota on Saturday.
Olanski advanced to the consolation finals, where she finished sixth among the field. She scored 288.20 during the prelims before posting her finals score of 269.00 for a combined 557.2 total.
Olanski’s efforts on the tower gave UH three points for the meet and place it among the Top 50 team scores as of Friday’s totals. With the 14th place finish, Olanski is the first Cougar since Lacey Truelove in 2011 to earn points at the NCAA Championships.
The meet caps off an impressive campaign for Olanski, who won the platform event during the American Athletic Conference Championships and finished as the runner-up in the event during the Zone D Diving competition. She was named First Team All-Conference for her work on the platform and also picked up Third Team honors from the league in the 3M event.
