Grayson earns first career weekly honor

Senior Casey Grayson has been honored as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after hitting .500 and helping the UH baseball team to three wins last week.

Grayson finished the week 6-for-12 (.500) and recorded a team-best four runs scored and drove in two with a home run and double. He slugged .833 and notched an on-base percentage of .667 after walking six times.

Grayson notched a hit in all four games this last week, including a career-best night in Game 2 vs. USF — tallying three hits and two RBI — which included his fourth home run of the year.

Accompanying his stick at the plate, Grayson also played an error-free first base with 31 putouts for a fielding percentage of 1.000.

Grayson singled and walked three times — a career high — last week at Sam Houston State. In Friday’s win over USF, Grayson drew a huge one-out walk in the eighth that extended the come-from-behind inning. In Game 2, he belted a two-run home run on the first pitch he saw, trimming Houston’s early deficit to 4-2 and later finishing with three hits.
