For the first time since 2008, UH has won their conference.
By a score of 10-4 and against the only team to have swept them all year, the Houston CougarsĀ have defeated the Louisville Cardinals. UH brings their American Athletic Conference trophy back to Houston, where the odds have increased of UH being awarded a Regional by virtue of winning their conference out right and claiming the American Athletic Conference’s automatic bid.
Pitchers David Longville and Tyler Ford combined to hold the Cardinals to three runs, while the offense saw senior first baseman Casey Grayson knock in four RBIs with sophomore second baseman Josh Vidales contributing three.
Previously mentioned, due to UH having swept Rice 3-0 over the season, and normal powerhouses UT and A&M not having a powerhouse year, the odds of a Regional being hosted at the new and improved Cougar Field seem high. The NCAA will announce the hosts for the Regional round tonight, May 26 at approximately 8 p.m. CST via the NCAA social media and the ESPN online ticker.
