Guess who’s back?
This event has welcomed students to campus for twelve years with food, giveaways and a student organization fair.
This year, Cat’s Back was no exception except for one thing — a fenced-off area on center court for sports clubs and various organizations to showcase themselves.
“It’s nice, more spread out, and the themed area is pretty cool. Last year was too compact,” marketing senior Brian Bancroft said.
It was kinesiology senior Brenda Rico’s second year at Cat’s Back, and she noticed there were fewer booths this year. But at roughly 7,000 students, attendance was still high.
“Everyone comes out to meet new people and it’s really a whole build-up of the school and a chance to rep school pride,” Rico said.
Psychology senior Zennessi Guerra has been to Cat’s Back every year of her college career and enjoys socializing with friends and getting freebies there.
“It’s a big demonstration of what UH is all about with all the organizations doing their thing,” Guerra said.
Student Government Association Vice President Erica Tat said she believed there were a lot more students interested in getting involved and learning more about the school.
“I’m excited about Cat’s Back because UH has improved so much, and students already knew so much about the University,” Tat said. “I got here at 3:30 and there were already people at the SGA table.”
