Announced Monday morning, ten-time Olympic medalist Carl Lewis will be returning to UH to join the Cougar Track & Field coaching staff as a full-time coach.

Lewis served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Cougars last year and joins the staff full-time this year coaching sprints and jumps.

Lewis joins fellow Olympians Leroy Burrell, Floyd Heard and newly-hired Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie. The four coaches have a combined total of 14 Olympic medals and 17 World Championship medals.

The Olympian holds the school records for the indoor 55-meter dash and both indoor and outdoor long jump records.
