MCAT changes could affect student admission

Pre-medical students will sit down to a bigger, beefier Medical College Admission Test next spring as it changes to “help better prepare tomorrow’s doctors for the rapidly advancing and transforming health care system,” according to the official Association of American Medical Colleges website.

The new MCAT will be given to students applying to medical school for Fall 2016 and beyond. Designed for “tomorrow’s doctors,” the test is longer and will be scored differently, with added focus on biology, physiology and pathology.

Registration is $300 and will open in Feb. 2015, according to the Kaplan Test Prep website. A $150 Amazon gift card will be given to students who register.
