SFAC: Rec center to start $8.5 million pool renovations, replace equipment

The first day of SFAC deliberations brought the Campus Wellness and Recreation Center to the forefront. CWRC saw overall growth over the 2013-2014 school year with a nine percent increase in the amount of sport clubs and six percent growth of access to the facility itself, among others.

CRWC also finished the renovation of Cullen Fields, including the installation of lights.

The Rec will soon start an $8.5 million dollar renovation of their natatorium pumps at the end of December. The natatorium and the leisure pool will be closed for five months as a result and will re-open in June with a fully renovated system.

CRWC is also in the process of replacing equipment, already having replaced half of it, and is in the process of replacing the other half. All equipment will be replaced on a five-year rotation. The entire project will cost an estimated $197,775.10.

CRWC also asked for a one time allocation of $73,689.60 in order to expand their Wi-Fi throughout the facility, including outside to the leisure pool. Leaders of the Rec Center consulted the IT department, who told them that their current Wi-Fi could hold no more than 50 clients.
