UH may have lost its best chance at winning the American Athletic Conference after Saturday’s 31-24 defeat to Tulane at TDECU Stadium. The Cougars — who was snapped of their three-game win streak and entered the contest in a five-way tie for first in The American — would’ve been placed first in the standings if they were able to pull put the victory; instead, they sit tied for fifth with with just three games remaining on the regular-seasons schedule, with the next and final home game against Tulsa on Nov. 22.
