The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment announced today that a new director, Tina Powellson, would join the Center for Student Involvement effective immediately.

“Tina brings a great vision and a proven track record in developing programs, services and partnerships related to student involvement and student engagement at large, public and urban universities,” Keith Kowalka, assistant vice president for student affairs, said in a press release.

Powellson has over  11 years of experience in student affairs and previously worked at Georgia Southern University as the executive director for the Office of Student Activities and Fraternity and Sorority Life.

“Her background and experience will be invaluable as we build the Center for Student Involvement into a nationally known program that serves as a catalyst for student engagement at the University of Houston, while bringing a student-centered approach to working with students and student organizations in their pursuit of student success,” Kowalka said.
