The Cougars are riding a four-game winning streak and are set to travel to Florida Friday for a three-game series against the American Athletic Conference-leading USF Bulls.
The Cougars have been strong in their recent games, outscoring the Cincinnati Bearcats 26-3 over a three-game sweep last weekend and picking up a solid win over the McNeese State Cowboys on Tuesday. The Cougars are 27-14 on the year, and standouts look to carry the team to its 28th win as they play the Bulls.
The Cougars finished out their win over the Cowboys surrendering zero walks and zero errors, igniting a fire in the Houston defense that will be needed to stop the bats of USF. Junior outfielder Kyle Survance continues to be a threat on the base paths, as he sits at 23 stolen bases on the year, and freshman shortstop Connor Wong hopes to get the offense going similar to his stalemate-breaking fourth triple of the year against McNeese State.
The Cougars have shown their resourcefulness through their win against the Cowboys as they scored five runs on just three clutch hits, something that will force the Bulls to stay on their toes.
The team will open the weekend series against the Bulls with a 5:30 p.m. first pitch on Friday, followed by games at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
