Coogs 14th after first day at San Antonio NCAA Regional

Houston women’s golf teed off at the San Antonio Regional on Thursday, shooting a team score of 300 for the day.

Following their performance, Houston sits in 14th place at 12 strokes over par, trailing the leader Tennessee by 24 strokes.

The Cougars are participating in their first ever NCAA post-season action as a team in just their inaugural year of competition as a squad.

For Houston, senior Courtney Ferguson and sophomore Emily Gilbreth registered the best day on the links, both ending the day at +2.

With their performance on the day, Ferguson and Gilbreth sit tied for 46th at the event individually.

Junior Raegan Bremer and Freshman Yuka Kajiki shot a pair of 76’s to enter the clubhouse at four over par.

Rounding out the day for Houston, freshman Megan Thothong shot five over par on the day.

Houston will begin their second round of the three-day event on Friday, with Thothong starting off the Cougars at 8:24 a.m.
