Cougars end 13th in first ever NCAA appearance as team

Houston women’s golf ended their first season of team play on Saturday at the NCAA Regional in San Antonio, finishing 13th  overall.

The Cougars shot a team 293 on the third and final day of competition to end 17 over par for the event.

Sophomore Emily Gilbreth led all Cougars at the event, shooting just two over par on her three day total.

Freshman Megan Thothong posted the lowest score of the day for Houston, shooting a 71 on the day, a score of one under par and sitting at +4 for the regional.

Freshman Yuka Kajiji shot even par on the last day of the tournament, totaling seven strokes over par for the tournament.

Senior Courtney Ferguson shot six strokes over par on the last day for a three-day total of +8.

Junior Raegan Bremer rounded out the squad for Houston, with a +10 total after shooting five over on the final day of competition.

Houston played well in their first ever NCAA post-season action, in just their second year as an active program.
