Tropical storm set to meet Texas coast, Houston

A tropical storm disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to hit the Texas coast through Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Officials will provide updates on the monitored weather conditions on the UH Emergency website.

UPDATE: 4:11 p.m.: The impending storm has led to the cancellation of this evening’s Cougar Carnival, according to Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Keith Kowalka.

4:57 p.m.: Food Services has also announced that they will be closed tomorrow, according to manager of Student Centers Facilities and Operations Beverly Garcia.

11:40 p.m.: The official UH Facebook handle said that “a decision will be made early tomorrow morning.”
