The Houston Cougars fell to the Texas Tech University Red Raiders on the final day of the Texas Tech Fall Invitational (31-29, 15-25, 20-25, 23-25).

Despite the Cougars taking the first set in a comeback, the Red Raiders would take the next three sets to clinch the match.

Even in the loss, a number of Cougars had a strong day.

Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer had another great game as she registered 26 kills and 13 digs for her second 20+ kill game in three career appearances.

For her performance at the tournament, Palmer was named to the all-tournament team, and was joined by her teammate, junior middle blocker Hunter Wise.

Among the other Cougars with solid performances on the afternoon was red-shirt freshman Chenelle Walker, registering 11 kills with a hitting percentage of .286.

Senior libero Olivia O’Dell had another record day, as she recorded 28 digs, a new career-high.

Sophomore setter Keandra McCardell had 33 assists on the afternoon to go with her 15 digs for her second double-double of the season.

With the loss, the Cougars now sit at 2-1. They will return to Houston before heading out for their next set of games at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic starting on Sept. 4.
