The Houston Cougars have had a great season on the field, and now the team is seeing it pay dividends in recruiting.

UH picked up their second four-star recruit commitment of the offseason on Thursday when wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland verbally committed to the Cougars.

Cleveland will be staying home to play his college football, as he currently attends Westfield High School in the Houston area.

He is also ranked as the 10th best player in Texas and is the 20th recruit in the Cougars upcoming class.

Cleveland joins other star recruits Ed Oliver, also out of Westfield, who is a five-star defensive tackle that will bolster the Cougars defense, and wide receiver Courtney Lark, a four-star wide receiver out of Bellaire.

UH now has the 24th-ranked recruiting class for 2016, according to 247 Sports. It seems head coach Tom Herman’s efforts to recruit within the state of Texas and the city of Houston has been working out well, as 16 of the 20 commitments for the Cougars are from the state of Texas.

The Cougars are currently preparing to play the Florida State Seminoles on New Year’s Eve in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and with a strong push for recruiting, UH is preparing for continued success in seasons to come.
