The softball team will open its conference season on Thursday when it hosts the University of Tulsa.
The Cougars are coming off a double-header sweep against the Sam Houston State University Bearkats, winning 10-8 and 15-4 and bringing their record to 14-13 on the season.
This will also be the Cougars’ last three home games of a 14-game home stand, with eight of their next nine games coming on the road.
In their pair of Tuesday games, the Cougars notched five home runs and 25 total runs. Two of those home runs came from freshman infielder Rachel Hill.
Tulsa is 21-5 coming into the series against Houston, but the Cougars lead the all-time series between the two, 16-15.
Last season, the Cougars finished with a 10-7 record in the American Athletic Conference, and they will be hoping to improve on that starting with the weekend series against Tulsa.
The Cougars and Golden Hurricane are scheduled for first pitch at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and noon on Saturday.
