The 73-yard punt that won the torpedo competition at the IFL Grand Final was a kick heard across the world.
Nine News Melbourne reported earlier this week that 27-year-old Dane Roy from Oakleigh, Australia earned a scholarship for football at the University of Houston after winning a kicking competition.
“I don’t even have words sometimes, and I’m a guy who has a lot of words,” Roy said to Nine News.
Roy received a call in January from UH offering him a full ride scholarship. Before the kicking competition, Roy was playing on an amateur Australian football team.
“I was like wow, this is happening,” Roy said. “I can get an education as well because I can kick a football.”
