The University-wide commencement ceremony featuring astronaut Scott Kelly has been moved from TDECU Stadium to Hofheinz Pavilion due to heavy storms on campus and throughout the Houston area, according to the University. The ceremony is still scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The venue move follows a flash flood warning from the National Weather Service covering parts of the Houston area. The warning, issued at 5:19 p.m., lasts until 8:15 p.m. Saturday.
During the 2015 University-wide commencement, the first of its kind at UH, rain threatened to postpone or cancel the ceremony in which Matthew McConaughey addressed graduates.
