Attempted robbery on campus, suspect unknown

According to an email from the UH Department of Public Safety, a student was the victim of an attempted robbery at about 8:27 p.m. Friday near the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

While waiting at the bus stop near Entrance 1 on University Drive, the student was approached by a black male with short hair wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and white shoes. The robber was about 5’8″ and weighed an estimate 160 pounds.

When the suspect tried to take the student’s iPhone, the student kicked the suspect — who displayed no weapon and made no threat. The male ran away and drove off in a dark-colored pick-up truck.

The make and model of the vehicle is unknown, as well as the license plate number.

UHDPS asks anyone with information regarding this attempted crime to contact the department at (713) 743-5360.
