KUHF, Cougar receive awards

KUHF and The Daily Cougar were awarded Friday at the Houston Press Club’s 2007 Lone Star Awards for journalistic contributions made in 2006.

The organization awarded KUHF or its reporters a total of 14 awards, including first place in Use of Sound, first place in Soft News Feature and first place in Hard News Feature. KUHF reporter Jack Williams received Radio Journalist of the Year.

The Daily Cougar received first place in Best Student Publication, edging out Lamar University’s University Press and Cypress Falls High School’s Wingspan for the title.

Press clubs and journalist societies based outside of Texas determined the awards, intended to recognize "outstanding achievements in journalism and mass communication in the state of Texas."
