News Real: Flight risk

A man smuggled a small primate under his hat while boarding an airplane, the Associated Press reported.

The man first took the monkey from Lima, Peru onboard a Spirit Airlines flight to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. After landing Tuesday morning, an airline spokeswoman said, the man waited for a connecting flight to LaGuardia Airport.

During the flight, several passengers noticed the marmoset, a fist-size monkey that usually lives in forests, emerging from his hat.

"Other passengers asked the man if he knew he had a monkey on him," the spokeswoman said.

Airport police took the man into questioning while the monkey was picked up by city’s animal control. The Centers for Disease Control, however, will quarantine the animal for 31 days.
