Defense Prepared for 4-2-5

3-4 Defense to 4-2-5 Defense

Points of running the 4-2-5:

1. It should allow UH to adjust easily against multiple formations and motions that other offenses show

2. With men in the secondary, if the Cougars use a 4-2-5 attacking defense with stunts and blitzes, opposing quarterbacks on the pre-snap read could be fooled into thinking there are seven or eight guys in the box.

3. It would put more speed on the field when going up against the likes of Rice, Tulsa

In 3-4 defense

Points per game allowed: 23.5

Passing yards allowed: 2,912

Pass YPG: 208

Passing yards per catch: 12.6

Rushing yards per carry: 4.2

Sacks: 23

Projected Stats for 4-2-5

Ell Ash and Phillip Hunt should provide enough pressure up front to force opposing quarterbacks into questionable decisions. Size, however, could pose a problem when facing run-oriented teams such as Southern Miss, with Damien Fletcher.
