UH track teams meet competition on the road

The Cougar track team made its first of three scheduled road trips to Fayetteville, Ark. this weekend while competing in the Razorback Invitational.

UH finished in the top five in six events.

Senior Ivan Diggs collected his second win of the season when he cleared 2.18 meters (7-01.75) in the high jump to take first place at the Invitational.

Two freshmen own the best mark in Conference USA in their events, Chris Carter in the triple jump and Ed Turner in the long jump.

Carter finished fifth and earned a NCAA provisional mark with a jump of 15.41 meters (50-06.75) while Turner finished eighth with a jump of 7.41 meters (24-03.75), improving on his previous personal best of 7.36 meters (24-01.75).

In the 200-meter sprint, senior Tremaine Smith tied his personal best with a time of 21.41, which earned him sixth place. In the 60-meter sprint he came in eighth place with a time of 6.85.

Junior Seun Adigun had an eighth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles while sophomore LeeA’ndrea Robinson finished sixth in the consolation finals.

In the 800 meters, senior Adriane Guinn had a sixth place finish with a time of 2:17.73. Junior Jennifer Harper finished seventh.

The women finished fourth in the distance medley relay with 12:27.54 and the 4×400-meter relay team took ninth. The men’s 4×400-meter relay team ended the night with a time of 3:15.71 and a 12th place finish.

In field events, freshman Kiara Pulliam turned in a fifth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.09 meters (46-02.75).

Sophomore Brandon Hubbard finished fifth in the weight throw competition with a throw of 14.91meters (48-11.00). In the shot put, Hubbard’s mark of 14.33 meters (47-00.25) earned him sixth place.

Two Cougars placed in the high jump competition, with freshman Laura Allred coming in fifth and senior Caresir Hamilton in eighth.

The Cougars return to Yeoman Field House on Friday for the Houston Indoor Invitational and Multis.
