Humanitarian endeavors and hard work are ways for people to find an individual calling in life, entrepreneur Jeff Sandefer said Wednesday.
"I came to talk about heroes and changing the world," he said. "The most important thing for someone to succeed in this field is perseverance and character."
Sandefer also said students should be committed to improving society by having a good work ethic and morals.
Sandefer said that he sympathized with students who did not feel they were succeeding in their pursuits of humanitarian efforts, such as assisting charities.
"I’ve been where you are going," Sandefer said.
Sandefer, the business manager of Sandefer Capital Partners, helped found the Acton School of Business in Austin in 2002.
"He is a truly unique individual with a true gift: his love for teaching," Robert Casey, Bauer business associate dean, said.
Business students pursuing a master’s degree in business administration also had an opportunity to sign up for a scholarship awarded by Texas Business Hall of Fame. According to its Web site, the Texas Business Hall of Fame awards students $10,000 annually.
