Student Program Board looks to fill open positions

The Student Program Board is accepting applications from students interested in getting involved with campus events, including concerts, movies and more.

Applications are available at the SPB office in Room 282, University Center.

Executive positions are also available and interested students can apply to be SPB president or to hold one of two vice president positions.

Advisors and UC staff members Kristen Salo and Jim Fawcett as well as current executive SPB members will decide on the student executive positions, SPB Concert Chairman Sean Tarver said.

Tarver, who is also a Daily Cougar Opinion columnist, said group members work together to find the most capable applicant for the position.

"Kristen is not going to go and make all the decisions herself, it’s a group process," Tarver said.

Students applying for a position must have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average, be enrolled in at least nine academic hours and be able to work at least 10 hours a week.

Tarver said he is unsure of how many applications have been turned in so far, in part because many students turn applications in "at the last minute."

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday. Applications can be downloaded at www.uh.edu/spb/
