Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between March 14 and Friday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Theft of service: 9:15 a.m., March 15, Parking Garage – The west exit control arm for the parking garage was damaged by someone who exited the garage without paying the required fee. There are no witnesses and the quality of the video surveillance was inadequate. Occurred at 9:52 p.m. on March 14.

Public intoxication: 3:19 a.m., March 14, 4390 Wheeler Ave. – Two students were arrested from the front lawn located at 4390 Wheeler Ave. for public intoxication while UH Police were investigating a possible DWI that originated from the same location. Both students received a Student Life Referral for the incident. Occurred between 3:19 a.m. and 3:23 a.m. March 14.

Resisting Arrest: 12:52 a.m., March 17, 4390 Wheeler Ave. – Upon assisting the Houston Police Department with a loud music complaint, a student was arrested for resisting arrest and/or detention when he did not comply with the UH Department of Safety. The student was transported and released to the Harris County jail. The student was also issued a Student Life Referral. Occurred between 12:52 a.m. and 1:25 a.m. on March 17.

Theft: 11:30 a.m., March 17, Robertson Stadium – Aramark reported someone stole refrigerant coils and previously unreported beer taps from the portable beer dispensers. There are no suspects. Occurred between 3 p.m. and 11:51 a.m. on March 17.

Criminal trespass: 9:31 p.m., Wednesday, Athletics/Alumni Center – A security officer observed and reported two juveniles attempting to steal unattended bicycles that were secured to a pole. One of the juveniles was detained and two bicycles were recovered on a public street. The juvenile was issued a criminal trespass warning and later released to the custody of his parent. Occurred between 9:31 p.m. and 9:44 p.m. on Wednesday.

Public intoxication: 4:12 a.m. Thursday, Entrance 16 – A visitor was spotted walking erratically, unable to maintain his balance and was walking in a moving lane of traffic. The individual was approached and was found to be intoxicated and unaware of his location and of how he arrived at the University. The individual was arrested for public intoxication and transported with to the Harris County jail and released. Occurred between 4:12 a.m. and 4:20 a.m., Thursday.
