Letter to the editor: UH alumnus roots for Cougars

To the editor:

The comment below was inspired by an entry on About: Chron, a blog about The Houston Chronicle, (Jan. 4, "Cougar fans roaring mad about headline"). The blog author and UH alum, Steve Jetton, is pretty peeved that the Houston paper would so prominently and negatively portray UH. The below comment was not allowed by the Houston Chronicle.

I am a 1980 graduate of the University of Houston, and it is a favorite pastime of the Chronicle to do some uncool things. Go Cougars, is what I say. There are two congressional contenders that are also getting dissed by the Chronicle and its staff. Both of these UH grads have had distinguished, multi-faceted careers. One of whom has been a two-time Vietnam War Veteran. With the approval rating of congress at a mere 22 percent, they have decided to offer voters a third distinct choice using the prominent third party Libertarians to do so.

So far the Houston Chronicle has acted like these guys do not exist. May God bless all of us, U.S. too.

John Wieder UH alumnus
