UH alumnus wins Pulitzer

Former Daily Cougar staff writer and photographer Adrees Latif, who snapped this photo of UH football player Antowain Smith in 1996, was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in breaking news photography Monday. Latif, a 1999 UH journalism graduate, currently works for Reuters.

Latif’s winning photo dramatically depicted an injured Japanese videographer continuing to film from the ground in the midst of a protest in Myanmar.

His winning entry can be viewed at www.pulitzer.org.
