Police identify alleged suspect

Stanley Hatter was identified Friday as the alleged suspect in a case of attempted sexual assault that occurred Thursday between The Moody Towers and the University Hilton.

The female complainant, a UH student, said she was approached by the alleged suspect at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday when sitting on a bench outside The Moody Towers.

The student reported that she was backed into a corner outside of the University Hilton, but managed to escape the suspect.

UH Police Chief Malcolm Davis said UHPD was able to determine the alleged suspect’s name, and the victim was able to identify the suspect out of a photo line up.

"Officers were canvassing the area after the incident was reported, looking for the suspect. One of the custodians had seen an individual matching that description earlier that morning," Davis said.

A warrant for his arrest has been issued and UHPD has called for increased patrols of nearby residential areas.

"We have asked our officers to pay extra attention to the residential areas as shift activity allows," Davis said.

Hatter is a black male, 5 feet 7 or 5 feet 8 inches tall, 20 to 25 years old, with tattoos on both arms and a fade haircut, last seen wearing a light grey muscle shirt and blue jeans, UHPD reported.

Anyone who sees the suspect should call the UH Department of Public Safety at (713) 743-3333.
