The following is a partial report of campus crime between Oct. 13 and Sunday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.
Criminal mischief: 9:52 a.m. Oct. 13, Welcome Center – Damage occurred to a gate arm of the exit toll of the Welcome Center Parking Garage onto Calhoun Road. Occurred between 9:30 and 9:52 a.m. on Oct. 13.
Theft: 12:10 p.m. Oct. 1, the Moody Towers – A student reported his bicycle missing from the Moody Towers bicycle rack. There are no suspects or witnesses. There is no video surveillance of the Moody Towers bicycle rack. Occurred between 1:30 and 12:05 p.m. Oct. 13.
Failure to Stop and Render Aid: 4:01 p.m., Lot 1A – A student reported that a white Volkswagen Jetta, struck his vehicle in Lot 1. The individual failed to give the information required by state law. There are no suspects. Occurred at 3:50 p.m. on Oct 14.
Criminal Mischief: 2:46 a.m. Oct. 15, Cullen Oaks Apartments – A UH DPS video security officer observed a man on video kicking the southeast entrance door to Cullen Oaks, Building 4 causing damage to the door. An investigation is under way. Occurred at 6:37 p.m. on Oct 14.
Possession of Marijuana: 1:52 p.m., Oct. 16, Cougar Place Apartments – While performing a routine smoke detector inspection of a residence located at Cougar Place, a UH DPS fire marshal discovered a small amount of marijuana in plain view. The marijuana was seized and logged into evidence. The resident was issued Student Life and Residential Life Referrals. Occurred at 1:52 a.m. on Oct. 16.
Theft: 11:53 a.m., Oct 16, University Hilton Hotel – The Hilton Hotel Housekeeping director reported a large amount of bedding and linen missing from the Housekeeping office area. An investigation is under way. Occurred between 11:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and 7 a.m. Oct. 15.
Consumption of alcohol by a minor: 11:40 p.m., Oct 16, Bayou Oaks Apartments – An underage student was detained and determined to be under the influence of alcohol. The student was issued a Harris County citation and Student Life Referral and released to a guardian. Occurred at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 16.
Motor vehicle theft, evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle: 1:58 a.m. Oct. 17, Lot 15H – A UH Athletics owned van was stolen and then recovered by UH DPS. Five individuals were arrested and transported to Harris County Jail. Occurred between 1:50 and 1:58 a.m. on Oct. 17.
