UH would do itself a favor by following UH-Victoria’s lead.
UH-V has created a three-year bachelor’s degree program. UH-V is officially an entrepreneurial establishment, as it is the first in Texas to offer this degree plan to students.
The program takes advantage of study-abroad programs, group projects, intense eight and 15-week sessions as well as a locked-in tuition rate for freshmen. This sounds nice compared to UH’s tuition increase for the fall.
The degree plan, referred to as Degree in Three or DN3, is available to communication, criminal justice, education, English, history and psychology majors.
If UH followed its sister school’s example and made this program available for more Cougars, the opportunities would be endless. Locked-in tuition would entice more than enough students to make it a worthwhile endeavor. Plus, the intense sessions and mandatory international study sessions would broaden students’ horizons and make them more appealing to future employers.
UH appears to be making leaps and bounds toward greatness, and this would be another step in the right direction.
