Cougars set for short Hofheinz layover

The UH women’s basketball team returns home after a four-game road trip to face North Texas at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hofheinz Pavilion.

The Cougars (4-3) started their road trip on a sour note, as they fell to Louisiana State (6-0), 72-54. UH also dropped its next two games to Miami (7-0) and Delaware (2-3) respectively, the latter coming in the opening round of the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo.

UH rebounded from its three-game skid to knock off Texas State (2-4) 90-58 in the consolation game of the tournament.

In the win over the Bobcats, sophomore Roxana Button scored a career-high 21 points for the Cougars. Not surprisingly, Button was named to the all-tournament team after her performance, in which she was 7-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

As usual, UH received solid contributions from Brittney Scott and Courtney Taylor, who chipped in with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Taylor also pulled down nine rebounds, while Scott grabbed six boards.
