Cougars dominate in preseason match

The Cougars flattened Huston-Tillotson winning 134-65 in a preseason exhibition match Tuesday at Hofheinz Pavilion.

The victory was a result of the collaborative efforts made by the team — the entire playing roster contributed points in the game.

The Cougars’ offensive presence proved to be too much for the Rams.

Porsche Landry led the Cougars in scoring with a game-high 27 points and picking up eight assists. Leslee Mason and Britney Scott both scored 19 points. Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year Courtney Taylor also added 14 points. Mae Woods, Brittany Mason and Megan Workman also contributed 10 points each.

Huston-Tillotson had only one lead of three points in the first half before the Cougars took control of the contest. A determining factor was the Rams’ sloppiness with the ball – they had 30 turnovers.

Zalika Dyson, who is recovering from a knee injury, showed promising signs of improvement by contributing six points.

The 2010-2011 season opener for the Cougars is at 5 p.m. Sunday against UT Arlington at Hofheinz Pavilion.
