UH deputy dies in line of duty

A UH police officer was killed early Friday morning when her car hit a tree, authorities said. The officer was traveling to a service call and is the first UH officer to die in the line of duty.

Ann O’Donnell, 24, was on the way to Wendy’s on Scott Street around 1 a.m. when her police cruiser crashed into a tree in the 4300 block of North MacGregor Way. She died en route to Ben Taub General Hospital.

O’Donnell is survived by her parents, James and Nonette O’Donnell, and her sister Kathleen Sullivan.
