The Cougars losing a lead is a rarity, and if teams want any chance of winning they have to strike early.
Marshall led the game for 2 minutes and 47 seconds in the first half before UH proceeded to a 72-54 victory at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W. Va.
The Cougars (23-4, 14-0 Conference USA) nursed a 10-point lead at halftime, but the closest Marshall would get again was within six at the 16:36 mark in the second half. UH answered with a 7-0 run to take a 47-34 lead, putting away the Herd for good.
Brittney Scott led all scorers with 24 points, shooting 6-of-10 from beyond the 3-point line.
Porsche Landry added 15 points and six assists to pace the Cougars. With 12 points and 10 rebounds, Courtney Taylor had her 18th double-double of the season and 58th of her career.
The Cougars are now just two games away from having a perfect 16-0 record in C-USA.
They will defend the streak against Rice at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tudor Fieldhouse.
I am so sorry to say that U of H has the worst student fans in all of the NCAA. All students should go watch a Duke men's basketball game and see what true pride in your school is.
Caleb, that is a false claim. I grant you that we don’t have the excitement at basketball games that Duke does but look at why. That is all Duke is known for. Basketball. If you aren’t at the Duke basketball games then you just don’t care about sports period. The comparison between UH women’s basketball turnouts and Duke men’s basketball can’t be made. And before you say “all UH fans in general”, look at what article you’re commenting on and save your comments for the appropriate place.
