Cougars find stride in the fourth quarter, run away with 56-13 win over UAB

There are no more records for Case Keenum to break.

Keenum hooked up with Justin Johnson in the third quarter to pass former Hawaii quarterback Timmy Chang for the most passing yards all-time in NCAA history, while leading UH to a 56-13 win over UAB.

The Cougars got off to a slow start, as UAB attempted to keep the ball out of Keenum’s hand with long drives.

Entering the second quarter, the teams were deadlocked at 7-7, and UH led just 21-13 with nine minutes to go in the third quarter.

The familiar, explosive UH offense returned for the last quarter-and-a-half of play, as they scored 35-unanswered points after that point.

Keenum completed 39-44 passes for 407 yards and two touchdowns. He also found the end zone twice on the ground.

Tyron Carrier hauled in 12 catches for 105 yards and one touchdown. Johnson caught Keenum’s second touchdown pass and finished with seven receptions and 91 yards.

The Cougars defense allowed only 269 yards and the Blazers converted on just 3-of-13 third downs.
