Petroleum industry professionals kicked off the Offshore Technology Conference with mounds of crawfish, live music and dancing at the 24th annual OTC Crawfish Boil Sunday in Lynn Eusan Park.
The vast majority of the funds raised by the event will go towards engineering scholarships for UH students, said UH alumnus and Adjunct Professor Benton Baugh, who was the vice-chair and treasurer for the event.
“Raising scholarship funds is a very important way to get kids through school,” Baugh said.
In addition to raising money for scholarships, the event brought about 6000 professionals on the UH campus, Baugh said.
“It’s a very good public relations event,” he said.
