Former UH softball volunteer assistant coach Jessica Valis was promoted to an assistant coach Friday and former assistant coach Kristin Vesely has been named recruiting coordinator.
Valis, a former Cougar softball player, had an exceptional playing career with Houston, named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team following the 2006 season and earning First Team All-Conference honors each of her four years with UH. She will now oversee slap hitting and infield defense.
Following her graduation in 2009, Valis spent one season in the National Pro Fastpitch league with the Akron Racers, helping her team reach the NPF Championship series.
Valis continues to hold several program records for UH including career batting average (.379), season batting average (.431, 2008) and career hits among others.
