Hayden’s NFL dreams come true in 1st round

Six months after tearing his inferior vena cava and nearly dying, UH defensive back D.J. Hayden has reached his dream of becoming an NFL player.

Hayden was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the 12th pick of the first round of the NFL draft. He skyrocketed up NFL draft boards after running a 4.33 40-yard dash during UH’s pro day.

“I came a long way from where I was. This is a blessing,” Hayden said in a press conference after being selected. “I’m going to Cali, baby.”
