An unaffiliated individual was shot Thursday afternoon on a bus just outside of UH on Scott and Holman Streets, according to an ABC 13 article.
A passenger reportedly accidentally fired his gun while fiddling with it, shooting another passenger in the back right shoulder. The Houston Police Department has ruled the incident as an accident, and the victim has already been released from Ben Taub Hospital. The bus’s other eight passengers were unhurt.
The shooter fled the scene but was quickly apprehended several blocks away. While HPD does not intend on charging him for shooting the victim, the shooter is a former felon and is expected to be charged with illegal possession of his firearm.
