Oilfield company donates $2.35 million to UH

Schlumberger Limited donated $2.35 million to UH for renovations and the expansion of the Energy Research Park.

ERP’s Building 1, the location of the former office of Pierre Schlumberger, son of the company’s co-founder, Marcel, will be renamed The Schlumberger Building in gratitude. UH has begun work on the building, and a formal renaming dedication was held Monday.

UH has worked with Schlumberger for years.

In 2009, UH purchased the former Schlumberger North American headquarters, a 74-acre property at 5000 Gulf Freeway. Rod Nelson, Schlumberger vice president of government and community relations, is a member of President Renu Khator’s Energy Advisory Board, and Schlumberger deputy general counsel Dianne Ralston is the company’s executive ambassador to UH. Software and licenses have also been donated to UH engineering and natural sciences students.
