The American produces top performers

The American Athletic Conference wrapped up its fourth weekend of action.

The Louisville Cardinals stomped FIU 72-0 and remain undefeated at 4-0. They remain nationally ranked No. 7 and are still in the BCS hunt. They outgained FIU 484-30 in total offense and had a 20-2 margin in first downs.

The Cougars remain potent as the conference’s No. 1, with 548 yards per game. Sophomore receiver Deontay Greenberry recorded his second consecutive 100-yard receiving game with six catches for 146 yards.

Offensive Player of the Week

Rutgers junior quarterback Gary Nova completed 22 of 43 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes. Nova and his Scarlet Knights scored 21 unanswered points to finish the game.

Defensive Player of the Week

Memphis defensive end Martin Ifeidi helped contain Arkansas State to just seven points and 255 yards of offense in the Tigers’ 31-7 win.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Rutgers freshman receiver Janarion Grant had four punt returns for 106 yards. His 58-yard touchdown in the third quarter started the Scarlet Knights’ comeback to a 28-24 victory against Arkansas.
