Po’ boys might not be typical Valentine’s Day fare, but Gay Resource Services was serving up free kisses and $1.50 po’ boy sandwiches at a bake sale on Valentine’s Day in 1979.
Drama junior Paul Hager was decked out in a diaper, a wig and a “Free Kisses” heart on his chest as Cupid.
Gay student organizations had just begun to crop up in the late 1960s. The University’s current LGBT Resource Center opened in 2010 and focuses on people of all sexual orientations and genders.
