Crime Report: Feb. 3 to Thursday

The following is a partial report of campus crime between Feb. 3 and Thursday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Department of Public Safety. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UH DPS at (713) 743-3333.

Traffic Offense: A student reported her parked vehicle was struck at the Stadium Parking Garage and the striking driver failed to leave the information required by Texas Law. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. on Feb. 3 and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. The case is active, pending new information.

Theft: A faculty member reported the theft of his unsecured and unattended door mat from Cougar Village 2. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 12. The case is inactive.

Theft:  A student reported the theft of his unattended and unsecured backpack from the Technology Building. The incident occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. on Feb. 12. The case is active.

Failure to Identify: An unidentified and unaffiliated individual was arrested for failure to identify at Lot 18A. The individual was transferred and released to Harris County Jail. The incident occurred at 2:07 p.m. on Feb. 12. The case is cleared by arrest.

Traffic Offense: A student reported that her parked and unattended vehicle was hit at the Bayou Oaks Apartments Gravel Lot and the striking driver failed to leave the information required by law. A suspect has been identified. The incident occurred between 1 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 10 a.m. on Feb. 12. The case is active.

Possession of Marijuana/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UHPD security officer reported marijuana in the front seat of a student’s vehicle at Cullen Oaks Garage while performing a vehicle unlock. A student was then arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and released to Harris County Jail. The incident occurred at 11:09 p.m. on Feb. 12. The case is cleared by arrest.

Possession of Marijuana/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Four students were involved in an incident in which a small amount of marijuana was found at the scene at Cougar Village 2. No drug possession charges were filed because of the small amount of marijuana found. Three of the students received Harris County citations for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and all four received Student Life and Residential Life Referrals. The incident occurred at 12:025 a.m. on Feb. 13. The case is cleared by citation.

Harassment: A student reported at Oberholtzer Residence Hall that a comment on a social media site that he believed was directed to him was threatening in nature. The involved parties have been warned not to speak to each other. The incident occurred between 2:31 and 5:31 p.m. on Feb. 13. The case is cleared by exception.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A student was issued a citation and referrals for consumption of alcohol by a minor at Bayou Oaks Apartments and released. The incident occurred at 1:32 a.m. on Feb. 14. The case is cleared by citation.

Criminal Mischief: A student reported damage to her vehicle tires at the Stadium Parking Garage. During the investigation, it was determined that no offense occurred. The incident occurred between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 11. The case is unfounded.

Assault: A UHPD officer observed two individuals in an altercation at Lot 6B. The complainant did not wish to press charges. The suspect was issued referrals and released. The incident occurred at 11:49 p.m. on Feb. 16. The case is cleared by referral.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: A student reported suspicious activity in the parking lot Lot 16H. A search of the area led to a burglarized vehicle. The incident occurred at 11:32 a.m. on Feb. 17. The case is active, pending new information.

Assault: Two employees were involved in an altercation in which the aggressor poked and threatened the other employee at the Social Work Βuilding. The aggressor was issued a Harris County citation for assault, issued a staff referral and released. The incident occurred between 12:30 and 12:36 p.m. on Tuesday. The case is cleared by citation.

Theft: A staff member reported someone stole her unattended and secured property from her office in the Ezekiel W. Cullen Building. The incident occurred between 2:05 p.m. Tuesday and 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. The case is active, pending new information.

Theft: A student reported that someone stole her unattended and unsecured laptop from Hofheinz Pavilion. The incident occurred between 11:50 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday. There are no leads at this time. The case is inactive.
