CAPS to host Diversity Institute

Counseling and Psychological Services is hosting the 13th annual Diversity Institute with the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion on the second floor of the M.D. Anderson Memorial Library.

This year’s theme is “Together, creating a picture of inclusion.” The institute will include cross-cultural activities, presentations on diverse topics and a multicultural-themed luncheon.

Mikki Hebi of Rice University will speak about “A Primer on Size Discrimination;” Maria Curtis of UH-Clear Lake will lecture on “Islam in America: Stereotypes, Gender Realities and Hope for Understanding;” and diversity strategist Craig Clayton will lecture about “Eliminating Unconscious Bias … It’s Everyone’s Business.”
